The cult Freak Power are coming to Prague! The band that made an amazing mix of pop, rock, funk, acid house, acid jazz and trip hop in the 90’s are going to play in Lucerna Music Bar. This will pick up on mutual sympathy from 2008 when they played a great anniversary concert with Monkey Business and a year later played Sázavafest with Moby. Ashley Slater, an amazing musician and frontman, very nice and down-to-earth man, has also produced with Monkey Business.
Freak Power were founded in 1993 by bassist Norman Cook (later known as Fatboy Slim), trombonist of British anarchistic jazz big band Loose Tubes Ashley Slater and a singer Jesse Graham, aka “The Bass Cadet”. They released two successful albums, Drive Thru Booty in 1994 and More of Everything for Everybody two years later. In 1996, Norman Cook went solo as Fatboy Slim and Freak Power went quiet for a while. The first comeback attempts were noticed in 2008 but now, after twenty years, we are facing a band led by Ashley Slater, with a new amazing guitarist, vocalists and some musicians that were part of the former Freak Power or Microwave formations. According to the connoisseurs, the band has more energy than in the 90’s.
Freak Power are: Ashley Slater on trombone and vocal, Dale Davis on bass, Tony Remy on guitar, Carl Bryant on keys, Adam Bushell on drums and Kate Cameron and Nicola Bright-Thomas as bv’s.
