The Grandmothers Of Invention, former band members of the phenomenal Frank Zappa, are coming to Lucerna Music Bar on the 9th May. Although it has been 22 years since Frank Zappa passed away, his Czech fan base is extraordinarily solid. He was one of the greatest characters of rock music in the second half of the 20th century and everyone who had gone through one his bands and concert formations has become a prominent player on the music scene. This is also true for the members of The Grandmothers of Invention who will play mainly Zappa’s music.
The band’s name refers, with a typical self-irony, to Frank Zappa’s first band called Mothers of Invention that involved the legendary keyboard player and singer Don Preston, sax and flute player Bunk Gardner and also Ed Mann who played marimba, vibes, keys and other melodically percussive instruments and who stayed with Zappa in various bands for over ten years. These amazing musicians are completed with a drummer, percussionist and singer Christopher Garcia.
The concert will probably be the last chance for the Czech fans to see these extraordinary Zappa’s musicians play live.
