One of the most prominent representatives of the contemporary London jazz scene. A brilliant saxophonist and composer drawing on all sources of black music, she is heading to Lucerna Music Bar as part of Prague Sounds. Around the end of the last decade or so, the music media was flooded with interest in young British jazz, specifically London jazz, i.e. jazz made up largely not of “pure” Englishmen, but representatives of the rich community of descendants of immigrants from all corners of the world. Socially, this extremely fertile scene has two great positive specificities: in addition to the national spectrum being as open as possible, there is also an unprecedented gender balance. Certainly never before and nowhere else in jazz music have there been so many outstanding women, so many outstanding instrumentalists and composers, so many skilled bandleaders.
