The blues-rock guitarist and singer Eric Gales from Memphis was taught the guitar in a very young age in style of Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, B.B. King and others.
He was not interested only in blues, but also in hard rock – in the beginning of the 90s he and his brothers tried it as a power trio, but it didn’t last very long. The members of his actual band are drummer Nick Hayes and bass guitarist Orlando Thompson. All the different influence has lead to the interesting mix of blues with rock riffs and melodic vocals, in which you can hear sometimes soul and funk. Eric Gales is not only a very talented guitarist (he plays a right-handed guitar “upside-down” – with the E-bass string on the bottom- he is not naturally left-handed; he was taught by his brother who is left-handed and never second-guessed the untraditional technique), but also a great singer, inspired by Dough Pinnick from King’s X.
