About the event:

The British Jazz band Colosseum was found in 1968 by drummer Jon Hiseman, tenor sax player Dick Heckstall-Smith and bass player Tony Reeves, who had previously worked together in John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers on the Bare Wires album. Dave Greenslade, on organ and piano, was immediately recruited, and the line-up was completed by Jim Roche on guitar, although Roche only recorded one track before being replaced by James Litherland, (guitar and vocals). The music of Colosseum was very important for the British music scene, it connected rock with blues and Jazz with Soul. The most awarded albums were the first two. In 1971 the band split and let the fans wait till 1994 for the reunion. After that time they recorded a studio album, released concerts recordings and other compilations. Colosseum had their first concert in Czechoslovakia in 1969, were they divided the Jazz audience in two halves. The traditional audience was against it, the younger generation was absolutely amazed. After that Colosseum played two more times in Czech Republic, we are looking forward to welcome them once again with their great Jazz!
