Winter is still in Prague and makes chillin outside almost impossible. But don’t be sad – we are here for you with another dose of great concerts in May!
1. 5. Deafheaven / US, support: Youth Code / US
The May program will be detonated by an American band Deafheaven. Their music picks from the ranks of shoegaze, post-rock, emo, black metal, trash metal and alternative rock. Together it makes bewitching combination that pulls you in, absorbs and does not let go. Deafheaven can catch listeners of all genres, as they did at the memorable show played on the main stage at the OFF Festival 2014 in Katowice, Poland. Their last hell show in Prague was 3 years ago at the Strahov 007 Club and we believe it’ll be great again in Lucerna Music Bar. An American EBM duo Youth Code will play a support show.
4. 5. Tonya Graves
Tonya Graves is half American and half Czech singer with an unmistakable and beautiful soul voice. Former leader of Monkey Business, Czech funky pop band is now doing solo career and she’ll be performing two her albums – I’m The Only Me and Back To Blues. These records were both nominated to Andel music award it’s just great music.
10. 5. Phil Rudd & His Band / AUS
The AC/DC drummer will arrive to the Lucerna Music Bar to play his best hits, combined with his own music from the recently released solo album called Head Job. Phil Rudd was a part of legendary AC/DC almost whole their career and unambiguously co-created the AC/DC unique sound. A couple of years ago, he was accused of threatening to kill and possession of drugs, but being on the world tour now, he’s probably OK. Because if Rudd really kills something, it’s just his drumming.
20. 5. British Sea Power / UK
Indie rockers from UK will bring their brand new album called Let The Dancers Inherit The Party, which they have released four years after the last record. In their music, the band reflects historical moments and natural wonders and so they do on the album. Let The Dancers Inherit The Party’s twelve songs cover subject matters ranging from the stars in the night sky to the methodology of media manipulation. The band’s music was appreciated by such stars as David Bowie and Lou Reed, which is a quality punch itself. Come to Lucerna Music Bar, it’ll be a great evening!
29. 5. Riff Raff / US
And finally we have a real candy for you. The embodiment of the hip hop kitsch, the icon, even the holy icon for somebody. A musical genius that looks like from a different planet. Horst Christian Simco aka Riff Raff, who releases on Diplo’s label Mad Decent, will perform for the first time in Czech Republic at the Lucerna Music Bar. The crowd under the stage will take a ride with him on his rainbow surfboard. It won’t be a concert, it’ll be a trip. Rap and visual ecstasy. Buy the chips young folks, we’re just starting out! And don’t forget to dress up something strange. You won’t be alone.
