Two major names in Jamaican music history are coming to Prague for the first time! The Abyssinians and Lone Ranger will perform together on May 24, 2026, at Lucerna Music Bar, presenting an evening that combines the roots of roots reggae, the spiritual depth of the Rastafarian tradition, and the pioneering energy of Jamaican toasting, which later gave rise to rap.
UPDATE:
Toward the end of this week, we found ourselves in a situation that wasn’t exactly pleasant, but unfortunately not unusual. Due to personal reasons, Big Youth was unable to attend his appointment at the embassy, and unfortunately, he was not given an alternative date until June. As a result, he will not receive his Schengen visa in time and will therefore be unable to participate in the major European Roots & Culture 2026 tour alongside The Abyssinians. The French agency Mediacom therefore had to start looking for a replacement and managed to pull off an interesting switch. Joining The Abyssinians on tour will be a Jamaican veteran who goes by the name Lone Ranger.
In the context of the recent Burning Spear concert, this is another chapter in the collaboration between Lucerna and Jahmusic.cz in presenting the biggest names in reggae history in Prague. A journey to the roots, to authenticity, and to music that originated as the voice and reflection of community life on the island.
This will not be just another event among many, but an opportunity to encounter living history. For the reggae scene, this is an event of the first magnitude, featuring people who shaped the entire genre. This constellation is exceptionally rare in the Czech environment and offers the opportunity to experience firsthand what made reggae a global phenomenon.
