A year ago Amistat completely charmed the fans in Prague and due to the huge interest their concert was moved to bigger venue. Even now most of the tickets are gone and no wonder! The music of the twins Josef and Jan Prasil, who have Czech roots among others, is emotional and full of experiences, evoking feelings of harmony and belonging. And even though it is composed by the twins, the influence of each of them is evident in the music, which is at times very different. The compositions that Amistat creates reveal the stories of two narrators, stories in which each of their voices is given space.
“We’re very different, but we always connect when it comes to music,” Jan says. “We grew up on the same music. When you harmonize with a sibling, it’s still different than when you’re trying to do some harmony with someone who’s not related to you. Because we’re twins, we’ve always kind of had the same agenda and the same plan. We never wanted anything different because we lived very similar lives. And that’s what makes it all so unique,” he adds.
Amistat are reminiscent of a modern Simon & Garfunkel, inspired and influenced by Ben Howard, Kings of Convenience or Kodaline. Amistat creates playfully and subtly, yet intensely. Their work is fresh, but it also makes you think. And the best is live, when you can feel the effect on the crowd. Because it can have a completely different effect on everyone. Come on in.
