On Wednesday, September 30, a great musical evening called Concert for Peace shall take place in the Prague’s Lucerna Music Bar. This event is part of a multicultural cooperation which reflects current affairs in the world and wants to raise the mood in the society in a positive way. Hereby, the organizers respond not only to the fear caused by the migration of refugees, but they also point out that this is exactly the time when it is important to seek understanding and help each other regardless of our origins, skin colors or religions. Through this concert, all participating artists attempt to support and spread the idea of love, tolerance and peace through music.
As part of this evening, the world premiere of the joint project called “In the name of love – with music for greater tolerance”, which was created by musicians from the Czech Republic and the Republic of South Africa, shall take place. Zululand Gospel Choir was founded by Mr. Franklyn Mkhize and Mr. Alfred Banda in 2006 and consists of twenty exceptional singers between the ages of 18 and 35, mostly coming from poor areas of Kwazulu Natal, whose lives were literally saved by singing. Within a few years, an originally unknown choir turned into a grouping which is now one of the most famous in South Africa. Lucie Nozizwe, a Czech singer who has been promoting African rhythms on the Czech stage for many years. Her repertoire includes both traditional African songs and pieces of Miriam Makeba also known as “Mama Africa”, a signer and human rights activist. Lucie Nozizwe signs in the languages of Zulu, Xhosa and also other African dialects. Through her current project called “Music from the heart of Africa”, she attempts to inform the public about the importance of education for children in Africa.
“This joint project wants to bring love and respect of a person for another person into all open hearts, regardless of their religions or skin colors,” Lucie Nozizwe explains.
Among other guests of the evening, there will also be Fireson Bantu who is very well known to reggae fans in this country as well as on the African continent, and DJ Lazer from Kenya who will warm up the atmosphere before the concert and who will also take care of the afterparty.
The concert will be held with the support of the Embassy of South Africa in Prague and other African embassies in Prague, The Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, the campaign against the racism and hate crimes, the National Lottery Commission of South Africa, the Sivananda World Peace Foundation and the Lucerna Music Bar.
The tickets are available for CZK 280 + fees for distributors through the GoOut.cz network or directly through www.musicbar.cz. A part of the ticket sales will be used for charitable purposes. The concert has its own website at www.concert4peace.org where you can find more about the project as well as performing examples of participating musicians.
