Beenie Man aka King of the Dancehall is one of the biggest Caribbean superstars, who released more than 50 #1 hits. He is coming back to Prague after 4 years! Who was at the last concert knows, that this will be a top-a-di-top concert full of hits, dancing and fun. For all fans of black music: 27th of April is your date in the Lucerna Music Bar!
Beenie Man was born in 1973 in Kingston. He was involved in the music industry from a young age, starting toasting at the age of five, and was encouraged by his uncle Sydney Knowles, who played drums for Jimmy Cliff. He won the Tastee Talent contest in 1981, and Radio DJ Barry G introduced him to local sound system operators, who helped to establish the popularity of the young deejay, who became known as Beenie Man. In 1984 Beenie Man recorded some material with Barrington Levy (released ten years later), but his music career was put on hold while he finished school, and spent time travelling to the United Kingdom, United States, and Canada.
Very often child stars are not able to keep up their career; Beenie Man is one of the few examples, where you see, it necessarily doesn’t have to be this way.
Till now he is an entertainer of the first league of Jamaican Dancehall, who is releasing one hit after the other.
Also stars like Alicia Keys, Wyclef Jean, Sean Paul, Shaggy or Busta Rhymes are inviting him for their songs.
His bio and career is very long, so if you are interested in reading more about him, please check out Jahmusic.
Tickets are available for 490 CZK (+fee).
