Great news for fans of AWOLNATION! The US electro-rock band with singer and composer Aaron Bruno as their frontman will perform for the first time in Prague. The author of the mega-successful hit Sail will play at Lucerna Music Bar on Wednesday, June 11 as part of concert series Excelent Jukebox. Tickets will be available starting this Thursday, February 27 via Ticketpro. AWOLNATION’s name is derived from Bruno’s nickname during his high school studies. But it wasn’t until 2009 when Red Bull Records approached the musician with the possibility to create his own project. The cooperation brought EP Back To Earth and later on, the enormously successful LP Megalithic Symphony. That won them triple platinum disc – maybe also because it featured the hit single Sail. Originally, Sail was released in January 2011 but it only became extremely popular after an independent filmmaker shot a second version of the video. The record featuring a teenager singing in the rain went viral all over the world and got almost 100 million YouTube views. Their eternal stardom was accomplished after Sail appeared on the House series and a Nokia ad, and was reprised by such celebs as Macy Gray or Kendrick Lamar.
However, AWOLNATION haven’t slowed down and are busy recording a new album. First tracks are already out – ThisKidsNotAlright was released in spring last year and Some Kind of Joke was featured on Iron Man 3 soundtrack. Critics predict a long-lasting bright future to the band, hailing their live performances as their biggest asset.
