Dreadzone celebrated 20 years in the game with the release of their 7th studio album ‘Escapades’ in 2013. On Monday, 1st of June, they are coming back to Prague, to present their great energetic show full of dub, reggae, electro and rock. They prepared for you a great live set, not only with the newest songs, but also with the biggest hits of their history like Little Britain, American Dread, Captain Dread and many more.
Electro-dub pioneers Dreadzone formed in 1993 when ex-Big Audio Dynamite drummer Greg Roberts teamed up with Tim Bran, with the duo soon joined by bassist Leo Williams and keyboardist Dan Donovan, also formerly of Big Audio Dynamite, completing the group’s first line-up.
The founder of Dreadzone Greg Dread is inviting you to the concert:
A festival favourite, Dreadzone opened the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 1994 and began to bring their unique blend of electro, dub and reggae to a wider audience, going on to chart seven Top 60 singles (including their Top 20 hit ‘Little Britain’) and are still going strong after 18 years. Dreadzone released The Good, The Bad And The Dread – a compendium of their excellent musical story so far in 2011 and their groundbreaking 1995 album ‘Second Light’ was re-released in March 2012 by EMI as a two disc special edition featuring previously unreleased live concert material.
The band, with roots in Big Audio Dynamite, have had career which has spanned the credibility of a Creation Records release, major moves on Virgin and independent releases including through their own label Dubwiser Records. Their highly anticipated new album ‘Escapades’ was recorded at Mick Jones’ London studios and co-produced by original Dreadzone member and co-founder Tim Bran.
The core members Greg Dread, original bassmaster Leo Williams, the unmistakable MC Spee, legendary reggae vocalist Earl 16 alongside Chris Compton on guitar and Bazil on technology make up the current Dreadzone live line up. Hit records, critical acclaim and a huge, devoted fan base are theirs, due in part to their utterly storming live shows. As well as live favourites from their back catalogue the band will be playing tracks from Escapades at their shows in 2015.
Together with Dreadzone is performing producer and DJ MikkiM and DJ Babylon Rocker. MikkiM just released the new record Santiago, which he recored in Cuba and which got a lot of great positive feedback.
The concert is warm-up of the festival Rock for Churchill which will be held on August 28th and 29th in Vroutek, CZ.
For the 16th edition are coming: Selah Sue, Archive, Asian Dub Foundation, Looptroop Rockers, Royal Republic, Submotion Orchestra, Babylon Circus and many more.
