Every year in February the world is celebrating the birthday of the king of reggae Bob Marley. The Lucerna Music Bar in Prague is for that reason organizing a great concert on the 13th of February! This year with the great singer Omar Perry, the son of the dub pioneer Lee “Scratch” Perry, who was an important producer for Bob Marley! Omar Perry was born in Jamaica in 1968 and grew up in the legendary studio Black Ark, where he learned from the best, not only his father and Bob Marley himself, but also from Max Romeo and Junior Murvin. In the 80s he formed a band together with his brothers, The Upsetter Juniors, but the band didn’t last long. He started to work as a sound engineer in the studio Boris Gardener. After a while he moved to Gambia, he wanted to search his African roots. He became there a reggae ambassador, with his own radio show. He is living in Brussels now, where he concentrates on his solo career.
He was a support for Horace Andy, Alton Ellise, Sly & Robbie, Buju Banton, Mad Professor and Asian Dub Foundation. His first hit is called “Rasta Meditation”, produced by the legendary British Adrian Sherwood. In 2007 he released his debut album “Man Free”. Till now he released two more albums, “Can’t stop us” (2009) and “Journey” (2011).
Omar Perry and his Budapest Riddim band will be in Prague for the first time. Also that night is Mystic MC from Denmark and the Slovakian band Medial Banana performing.
Tickets are already in the pre-sale.
