Ladi6 is one of the biggest new comer in the hip hop and soul scene. This singer and rapper from New Zealand got the attention, when she was on tour with Gil Scott-Heron, The Roots and De La Soul and also through her work with the known drum and base band NZ Shapeshifter. Even she is a important member of the New Zealand hip hop scene, she mixes styles like hip hop, soul, r’n’b and reggae. In 2008 she released her debut album ”Time Is Not Much”, produced by Parks and MU (Fat Freddy’s Drop). Her second album “The Liberation Of…” was a big change. It was recorded in Berlin, produced by Parks and the German producer Sepalot. The album got platinum status in NZ. In 2011 she received two music awards “Best Urban album” and “best singer”, two Pacific Music Awards “Best Pacific Urban album” and “Best singer” and the album “The Liberation Of…” won the Taite price.
The single “Like Water” was nominated for the Top 10 in America and won the MTV Iggy for the best love song of the year 2012. This year Ladi6 is releasing her 3rd album “Automatic”. The first single “Ikarus” was produced by Parks and is a gentle mix of a soulful voice and futuristic hip hop.
