About the event:

With a gigantic voice and tons of charm, there is nothing small about the tiny songstress Nomfusi. With sheer will and determination she has risen from the squalor of South African squatter camps to glistening on the stages of the world. Likened by critics to a young Miriam Makeba with a twist of Tina Turner, the muitiple SAMA and Metro FM Award nominee embraces both her African heritage as well as the sounds of Motown she grew up with. Since launching her singing career in 2009 with her her debut offering “Kwazibani”, she has performed in more than 15 countries appearing with icons such as Angelique Kidjo, Bebe Wynans and Hugh Masekela. Her untamed performances have been described by critics locally and overseas as “an absolute riot to watch and hear”, “a refreshing blast of energy” and the Swazi Observer named her “the best artist in the overall line-up” at the 2011 Bushfire Festival.
In 2012 Nomfusi captured all of her vocal excitement on a powerful sophomore album, crafted especially for the South African market, aptly titled “Take Me Home.” Produced by the legendary king of Afro-soul, Ringo Madlingozi, and fellow craftsmen Robbie Malinga and DJ Clock, the album spawned the tracks Uthando Lwam (“Qam Qam”) as well as a duet with Ringo, “Kunjalo,” which quickly made their way on to the charts of many leading radio stations.

In 2013 Nomfusi portrayed the character of Miriam Makeba in the Golden Globe winning film, “Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom,” with appearances at both the Hollywood and Berlin premieres. She was also featured in the coffee table book companion to the film.
Nomfusi’s touching life story has been captured widely in the media, most significantly on SABC1’s series “My World,” seen by 9 million viewers. Chris Blackwell, the founder of Island Records, who discovered Bob Marley, Angelique Kidjo and U2 said of Nomfusi after viewing a documentary of her life and music: “What a terrific young artist, her genuine concern for her community and beyond comes through SO strongly.”
It is evident that Nomfusi, just as much a child of the soil as a woman of the world, cares deeply for her community, while not shying away from spectacular musical success. In a short space of time she has won thousands of fans across the globe. With two knock-out albums and a dazzling role in an award-winning international film, Nomfusi is steadily finding her way into the hearts and homes of millions.

This summer she is on tour through Canada, USA and Europe. On the 18th of September she is coming to Prague, Lucerna Music Bar.
