Founder, singer and guitarist of cult alternative rock band Sonic Youth Thurston Moore will return to Lucerna Music Bar after five years to present his new album Spirit Counsel. It will be released on September 20 on Thurston’s own label Daydream Library Series.
The new album features songs recorded between 2018 and 2019, including epic songs like Alice Moki Jayne, 8 Spring Street and Galaxies, a symphonic piece recorded by 12 musicians playing twelve-string electric guitars.
Thurston Moore has been one of the most influential personalities in the alternative rock scene since he founded Sonic Youth in the 1980s. With Sonic Youth he excited a whole generation of rockers and turned their attention to the evaluation of experimentation. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him among the 100 best guitarists of all time.
Moore is currently working with many leading artists and records and performs with his own band Thurston Moore Group, which includes Deb Googe, Steve Shelley and James Sedwards. The band has already released two albums – The Best Day (2014) and Rock n Roll Consciousness (2017).
Tickets on sale from Friday 26th July 10:00.
