A truly essential rhythm duo will come to Lucerna Music Bar to play Jamaican music! Coincidentally, it will be exactly seven years since they last visit to Prague. This time they are bringing two big reggae vocalists. It will be a pleasure to welcome the Jamaican legend Johny Osbourne. We have wished for his concert in Prague for fifteen years! We will also welcome for the first time a British-Jamaican top lover’s rock singer Bitty McLean! All that will accompanied by a full Taxi Gang band.
Sly Dunbar and Robbie Shakespeare are among the most fundamental rhythm and producers duos of the 20th century. It is estimated that around 200,000 songs have risen from their more that forty year long musical relationship. Many of them were released on their own label Taxi Records. Many of us consider these two Jamaican musicians to be the most original duo in history. They have considerably broadened listeners’ horizons through decades and across music genres. In those forty plus years they have collaborated with many people, the reggae list has got on it such legends as Peter Tosh, Black Uhuru, Toots & The Maytals, Dennis Brown, Shaggy, Beenie Man and Sean Paul. Outside the reggae scene it would be, maybe surprisingly, Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger & The Rolling Stones, Grace Jones, Joe Cocker, Sting, Carlos Santana, Sinead O’Connor, Madonna, Herbie Hancock, Robert Palmer and many others.
The performance of Sly & Robbie will feature a Jamaican veteran Johnny Osbourne who has sang since the 60’s, was active in the cult Studio One, recorded several big hits for Jammy’s and later for a New York label Massive B. A British-Jamaican singer Bitty McLean whose speciality is lover’s rock and soul reggae will also come along.
