The Swedish trio Movits! came to the Czech Republic for the first time this summer and played for the Czech fans at the festivals Colours of Ostrava and Rock for Church(ill), where they got for their mix of hip hop and neo swing a big applause. We are happy to announce, that the party continues on the 10th of February in the LMB, where Movits! are presenting their new album Huvudet Bland Molnen. Come and see, why Swedish hip hop is so successful in the States, Europe and Japan.
The trio Movits! are the brothers Johan Jivin’ Rensfeldt (vocal, rap and lyrics) and Anders Rensfeldt (DJ a producer) plus saxophonist Joakim One-Take Nilsson. “We’ve always been on the same track when it comes to music”, Johan says about the family business. “And it’s an advantage to work with your brother. If things slow down we can always stage a Gallagher-fight, to fan the media”. The foundation of their music are massive beats inspirit by hip hop and swing, Johan’s flow, melodies which goes into the ear and great scales of the wind section. “Movits! is like an extra shot of espresso in your morning coffee, a dynamite alarm clock that awakens your nervous system with the soul-throbbing joy of a power-driven swing dance throwdown.”, says the server Consequenceofsound.net about the Swidish trio.
Already after the release of their debut album Äppelknyckarjazz in 2008 they got a lot of attention. The single Äppelknyckarjazz got into the top 10 in Sweden and got them on the stages of all the big Swedish festivals. The next track Fel Del Av Gården got them an invitation to the American talk show The Colbert Report. “We really didn’t think we’d ever play outside of Scandinavia, being as we sing in Swedish”, Joakim says. “And definitely not in the States!”. They sold out every big city in the States.
During the spring and summer of 2010 Movits! have been expanding their reach in Europe. The have toured England, including playing at the Glastonbury Festival seven times, and played festivals in Hungary, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Slovakia, Macedonia and Shanghai. They have also appeared on national television in Sweden and perform on BBC Radio 1 sessions in London.
The second album Ut ur min skalle with the hits Sammy Davis Jr and Na Na Nah! came out in 2011 and brought them again big success, followed up by a club and festival tour. One of the newest hits Huvudet Bland Molnen, which is featured by Zack and Timbuktu, was released in August 2013. Now they are on tour in Japan and Germany, to the Czech Republic they will come in 3 month, ready for the spring tour. It will be their only concert in middle Europe at this time, so better don’t miss it!
