About the event:

GRAMMY-nominated Marcus King confronts heartache, addiction and mental health in his music. The themes quiver under the vibrato of his voice, and the singer’s delivery is weighed down by regrets and mistakes in lonely hotels. He will bring his guitar show to the Czech Republic for the first time ever, performing at Prague’s Lucerna Music Bar on July 1.

The singer has launched various mental health initiatives, including a guitar auction collaboration with MusiCares. Now his 2024 album Mood Swings acts as a baptism moment, during which he washes away his lifelong sins and degradation with water, leaving only a revived but still real primal scream. It’s as if King, under the watchful eye of Rick Rubin, is pouring raw soul straight from his bowels up through his broken heart and onto the record. More than ever, he emphasizes his vocals in the foreground, and the trusty guitar he’s so often associated with plays a supporting role this time around (though there’s no shortage of impressive shredding). As dark as his past has been, one can’t help but feel hopeful in the power of Marcus’ voice. Don’t miss this Live.
