About the event:

Two Grammy Award nominations for Best Metal Performance and Best Rock Album. The metal tip Gojira is coming back to Czech Republic with its new album Magma.

On this new, ten-song album, Gojira, formed by two brothers, Joe (vocals, guitar) and Mario (drums) Duplantier, guitarist Christian Andreu and bassist Jean-Michel Labadie, successfully expanded its soundscape. Magma is presented like the most passionate, strongest and purest album of their career. But it’s also certainly the saddest. The recording process was heavily influenced by the unfortunate demise of the Duplantier brothers mother. Gojira impressively oscillates between the extremes, trying to find the beauty in difficulty and being aware of the fragility of life. All accompanied by striking guitar riffs. The album Magma was intentionally created without a producer. The band wanted to return to their beginnings, when everything was done by themselves. This time in a bit better conditions of their own, newly built Silver Cord studio in New York. Differing from the inexorability of death metal on previous recordings, the band now came with more lyrical, melodic lines. It is not so surprising that Magma is the most accessible recording for listeners. However, without the band being forced into lowering their standards.

The band got together in 1996. It originally started under the name Godzilla, but five years later, the name got changed into the Japanese transcription, Gojira. The uniqueness of the group lies in the sympathetic and delicate accentuation of such themes like nature preservation, environmental issues are as frequent subject of their texts as are politics or spirituality. Besides favorable reviews in Pitchfork, Q Magazine and The Guardian, there is something else that shows the qualities of Gojira. Not only that they also got invited to support such musical behemoths like Metallica, Slayer and Mastodon, there is also the fact that Deftones, Slash and Lamb of God are among many of Gojiras enthusiastic fans
