Winner of ten Blues Music Awards and living legend of American blues-rock Tommy Castro will come to Prague with his band The Painkillers for the first time on 10 October 2025. As part of his European tour for his new album Closer To The Bone, he will perform at Lucerna Music Bar, where fans can expect an evening of raw blues, vibrant energy and unadulterated emotions. Tommy Castro last played in the Czech Republic in 2023 as one of the headliners of the Blues Alive festival in Šumperk. The concert is presented by Liver Music as part of the Prague International Bluenight series.

The new album, produced by guitar wizard Christoffer Kid Andersen at the renowned Greaseland Studio, presents Castro at his most authentic. “This is a real blues record – the way it used to be done,” says Castro himself. Closer To The Bone is his most direct and revealing recording to date, combining original original compositions with unexpected cover versions of lesser-known blues greats.

He should be joined on stage by his longtime bandmates – bassist Randy McDonald, keyboardist Mike Emerson and drummer Bowen Brown – with whom he forms one of the most recorded blues formations today.

Castro is known as a phenomenal live performer who can combine his predatory guitar playing, charismatic vocals and immediate contact with the audience. The Washington Post has called him “phenomenal and funky,” and Joe Bonamassa considers him one of the best blues guitarists today.

Tommy Castro hails from San Jose, California. He’s been on the scene for over four decades and has released 17 albums, each with its own character – from R&B with a brass section to hot soul grooves to straight-ahead rock ‘n’ roll. His credits include four B.B. King Entertainer of the Year awards and hundreds of shows played annually. He’s never boring on stage – that’s where he’s in his element.
