The New York band GIRLS AGAINST BOYS<\/b> from Touch and Go Records and the Los Angeles band CHOKEBORE<\/b> from Amphetamine Reptile Records are two important bands of the 90s post-punk scene and \u00a0are meeting exclusive on one stage in Prague! They planed their tour, so they can be on the 8th<\/sup> of December<\/b> together with us. The support comes from the Czech Tom\u00e1\u0161 Palucha<\/strong>, who calls lately more and more attention to himself. \u00a0<\/p>\n

25 years with GVSB and 20 years with CHOKEBORE<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 90s \u2013 this was the time, where you could hear on MTV bands like Melvins, Swans or Dinosaur Jr.; \u201cAlternative music\u201d was the keyword, so we could hear bands, which under different circumstances and times would stay in their garage. Just few of them are till today actual, Girls Against Boys and Chokebore are two of them.<\/p>\n

Many rock fans know Girls Against Boys (GvsB) just as support for Rage Against The Machine or Garbage and Chokebore for the support for Nirvana. But GvsB is a unique phenomenon, even without a big name: employing dual bass guitars, which is making their suggestive sound, is a rarity in rock music and a figurehead for the label Touch and Go.<\/p>\n

After great albums like Venus Luxure No.1 Baby (1993) or House Of GvsB (1996), the band has toured extensively throughout Europe, Japan, Australia and the United States and Canada, the last tour took place in 2009 in Poland and Russia. They have performed in numerous festivals. Bands who supported them before going on to have mainstream success include the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Placebo. After many side projects like New Wet Kojak, Paramount Styles, Bellini, Obits and Fugazi, Girls Against Boys resumed in May 2013 touring in support of their new EP The Ghost List. \u201cWe felt it is time to focus on GvsB again\u201d, says member McCloud. \u201cWe are at the point, where we love to work together creating new things\u201d.
\nTheir last years concert at Colours of \u00a0Ostrava festival showed, that this words are true. With on tour is the \u201cfamily friend\u201d John Schmersal (Enon, Brainiac, Caribou).We are so excited to welcome them in the LMB!

A very similar case is Chokebore, which were long time the figurehead of the legendary label Amphetamine Reptile Records. Their deformed guitars and passionate voice of singer and guitarist Troy Von Balthazar made an impression also on Kurt Cobain, who decided to take them as support for their last tour. For the mainstream they were too \u201cstrange\u201d and their music too \u201csad\u201d. But nevertheless, Chokebore never stopped to release legendary records (their last EP Falls Best came out in 2011) and this year they are celebrating their 20th<\/sup> anniversary after the genius debut album Motionless (1993).

The music of Tom\u00e1\u0161 Palucha has its magic in the interplay of two minimalist guitar links, from where is growing a great sound-construction. Studio material: last years 12\u201d split with Unkilled Worker Machine at the label Silver Rocket.
