This will be the seventh year of Vinyla awards being given to unique and original Czech musicians and bands. The expert jury made up mostly of active music publicists are going to choose the most interesting acts of 2017 in categories of Album of the Year, Newcomer of the Year and Achievement of the Year.<\/p>\n

\nTheir fans have waited for five years for a new album and the songs Give Masterpiece and Chance! have lived up to their expectations. The trio Petr Marek, Prokop Holoubek and Tom\u00e1\u0161 Kelar with their \u201cexistential electro\u201d are once again crossing the boundaries of pop, dance music and alternative and they prove that they belong to the most distinctive (and most popular) Czech bands of the last decade. Critics agree that their fourth album with a motto \u201cMake time for your life\u201d is the most positive so far and has the most hits on it.<\/p>\n

\nThree years ago, their two Vinyla nominations for a debut album Live didn\u2019t go through so this year this duo from T\u00e1bor can make up for it with their second studio album Saffron Hills. Meanwhile, Veronika Buri\u00e1nkov\u00e1 a David Zeman managed to record an album with their former group Veena and were on tour with Five Seconds to Leave. Their full of emotions minimalistic lo-fi rock tells us stories from an idealistic world inhabited by fox and cat like creatures and their unique poetry is underlined by sounds of analogue instruments made of wood that were recorded in a home studio. In every aspect these songs sound like they come from the outer space.<\/p>\n

\nThis quartet\u2019s origins lie in the circles around a band from \u010cesk\u00e9 Bud\u011bjovice called Noise Assault Agency Budweiss. Their minimalistic guitar mantras are rooted in the long tradition of psychedelic rock from seventies to this date as well as a bit of indie and dream pop. After the last year\u2019s EP released on a cassette they made a debut album in 2017 on which the cycled guitar riffs are accompanied by plain Czech lyrics. However, their mission lies also in reminding us about an endangered bird species of screech-owl, hence the band\u2019s name (Screech-owl translates as S\u00fd\u010dek in Czech).<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
