Emotional chamber music, intimate guitar solos combined with scenic Iceland songs, this all is the ballad band from Reykjavik.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u00c1rst\u00ed\u00f0ir - Things You Said [Official Music Video]\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dP1-oMkumkU?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Not many bands can lay claim to the kind of dramatic career development that the Icelandic band \u00c1rst\u00ed\u00f0ir can. Formed in the wake of the 2008 stock market crash, they found themselves catapulted to the top of the Icelandic music charts within six months of their debut, and then forged ahead with their 2010 tour despite a volcanic eruption that stalled global travel. The first Icelandic band to ever win the Eiserner Eversteiner European Folk Music Award, they became a YouTube phenomenon after a friend recorded an impromptu performance of \u201cHeyr himna smi\u00f0ur\u201d in the B\u00fcrger Bahnhof train station in Wuppertal. Their May 2014 Kickstarter campaign raised $70,000 (substantially exceeding the initial $20,000 goal) to finance their third album, Hvel (Spheres). Once fully funded, the band took up residence and composed the album\u2019s songs in Toppst\u00f6din, an abandoned coal-fired power plant repurposed as a creative space, with the encouragement of their friend and producer Styrmir Hauksson (\u00c1sgeir, Of Monsters and Men, GusGus).<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u00c1rst\u00ed\u00f0ir - Shades [Official Music Video]\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1sN01xvvfsg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>They then moved down the road and recorded Hvel at the studio Orgelsmi\u00f0jan, home to many of Iceland\u2019s renowned recording artists (Of Monsters and Men and John Grant). The result is a collection of songs which weave both traditional and electronically-inspired instrumental threads together with soaring vocal harmonies, and that critics have described as \u201cbeautiful and atmospheric\u201d and \u201cutterly mesmerizing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u00c1rst\u00ed\u00f0ir - Heyr himna smi\u00f0ur (Icelandic hymn) in train station\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/e4dT8FJ2GE0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>After an adventure-filled coast-to-coast tour of the U.S., \u00c1rst\u00ed\u00f0ir now looks forward to performing Hvel for audiences on the other side of the Atlantic as they reconnect with seasoned supporters and form new bonds with green listeners. With their sweeping vocal harmonies backed by lush layered orchestral instrumental arrangements, \u00c1rst\u00ed\u00f0ir sings, \u201cNot everything you feel can be seen, but the feeling lasts so long\u201d and hopes that what the audience feels will linger long after the last note is played.<\/p>\n<p>In Czech Republic they were in 2014 in the Lucerna Music Bar and two years before that at the Colours Of Ostrava Festival.<\/p>\n<p>Tickest are available for 250 CZK (+fee) at musicbar.cz, GoOut.cz, Ticketpro, Ticketportal and Eventim.
